act3 People

The heart and soul of act3 comes from the Principals and Consultants, who are passionate about helping executives improve their careers and lives through act3 planning.

Our principals believe a “win-win” situation can be created by bringing executives and their companies together to engage in act3 planning.

Our Principals – Asia Pacific

Janie Gough

“act3 planning is not about maintaining the status quo. It is about unlocking potential of senior talent and the organisations they work for. I have seen many high performers become re-energised through planning and living a ‘portfolio lifestyle’. Talent, some of whom felt stale in their roles, were able to realise their full potential through the act3 personal strategic planning process. They became an even more valuable resource for their employer.”

Janie is a co-founder of act3. She brings extensive experience helping leading organisations to implement change strategies to maximise human potential and organisational performance. Janie’s expertise in developing innovative strategies to attract, retain, engage and develop talent, has been instrumental in designing act3s offerings and establishing act3s thought leadership position in the leadership and talent management market.

Craig Perrett

“Senior executives are often reluctant to discuss act3 planning at a personal level because they feel that in doing so they may inadvertently send a signal that they have disengaged or are wanting to leave. Innovative organisations that are keen to retain senior talent must create an environment where career and life aspirations are discussed openly and without prejudice. When they do, everyone wins”.

Craig is a co-founder of act3. Craig Perrett is one of Australia’s leading corporate advisors, working with CEOs and senior executives of a select group of blue-chip organisations. Craig’s expertise in executive development and business growth strategies makes him highly sought after in his field.

Our Principals – North America

Jim Harrison

“The most successful senior executives I know would never consider running their organisations without a written strategic plan, and yet most of them do not have a plan for the third act of their life – the time when they are finally best positioned to reap the rewards of decades of successful effort. act3 planning drives the informed conversation that hugely benefits both the individual and the organization.”

Jim Harrison is a leading business strategist and executive coach. Working with companies and executives around the globe, Jim is centred in North America and currently leads act3′s North America practice. He knows from experience that organisations need to look at senior talent engagement strategically and tactically to manage both the risks and the opportunities that will arise from the coming baby boom exodus.

Tim Rossi

“When executives are able to clearly articulate their future plans, we often see them more fully engaged with the ‘here and now’. Their future, which may have been seen as a time of challenge, is now seen as a time of opportunity. Not only does the organisation reap the benefits, but partners and spouses, family and friends as well as wider communities are positively impacted”.

Tim brings to act3 extensive senior management and management consulting experience, coupled with leadership development coaching, training and facilitation. His early career centred on senior management roles with investment banks and the completion of Harvard Business Schools’ Program for Management Development. Since 1988, Tim has supported leaders from professional service firms, finance, retail and government sectors as well as other business owners.

David Simpson

“Nobody can tell executives how to plan their 3rd act. Every person is different. Every solution is different. act3 planning is as much about life as it is career. And the process has to involve partners because they are vitally affected. We listen, help people create options and guide them. And we deeply understand the issue at a personal level with our principals successfully creating their own ‘portfolio lifestyles’.”

David has extensive management and client services experience at the Executive level, having held leadership roles in general management, marketing, strategic planning and recently a CEO of a not for profit.

His senior postings in North America (New York, Chicago and Toronto) Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and South Africa have provided him the opportunity to work in diverse cultures as well as different business climates.

As an experienced coach and mentor and an exemplar of living an act3 Portfolio career and lifestyle, David is able to empathise and connect with our act3 planning participants.
